Introducing Dr. Scalabrino our wonderful vice chair of the NYSRS membership committee!! She is a cardiothoracic radiologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.
1. Why you decided to go into radiology
For me, radiology was the perfect opportunity to combine my love for anatomy, preventive medicine, and technology. I currently work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a special focus on thoracic oncology. Radiology also offered flexible scheduling and the ability to work from home.
2. Favorite moment/experience as part of the NYSRS
I am excited for my new role as Vice Chair of Membership for the NYSRS and am extremely grateful for the ongoing mentorship I receive.
3. Plans for the future
I am exploring ways to build a sustainable career path balancing motherhood and working on projects aligned with my interests and expertise.
4. Advice for medical students interested in radiology
Learn as much as you can about what your life would look like in this specialty. Do any of the sub specialties align with how you see yourself practicing medicine? Talk to radiologists and ask thoughtful questions pertinent to your career aspirations and desired lifestyle. Get first hand experience through audition rotations.

I’m married to an interventional radiologist and we have a 1 year old daughter and 13 year old dog 😊
