Introducing Kim Feigin, MD, FACR!! She is the faculty advisor for the NYSRS resident and fellow section and the chief of the Breast Imaging Service in the Department of Radiology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

1. Why radiology?
Radiology feels like solving puzzles: each case presents a unique scenario, and we use images and clinical clues to determine the diagnosis. It’s intellectually stimulating and rewarding—often even fun. I’m particularly drawn to breast imaging because it combines direct patient care through minimally-invasive procedures with diagnostic problem-solving. Also, the constant technological advancements in radiology keep the field dynamic and exciting.

2. Favorite experience of NYSRS
The best part of being involved with NYSRS has been connecting with the passionate, dedicated radiologists who volunteer their time to advocate for our profession and patients. It’s inspiring to collaborate with such an amazing team. I also always look forward to the annual RFS social event in NYC—it’s a relaxing and fun way to meet other radiologists and a yearly highlight!

3. Future plans
I am very excited about the promise of artificial intelligence in radiology.  I hope and fully expect that AI will enhance our diagnostic accuracy, streamline our workflows, and elevate our patient care in ways we have not yet even imagined.

4. Advice for med students
Be brave.  Medical training can be intimidating, but you have come this far and have discovered radiology and the NYSRS, so you are already on the right track!  Trust yourself, take calculated risks, learn from setbacks (which are inevitable), and keep growing.

5. Fun fact
I somehow made it all the way through med school and well beyond without drinking coffee.  I’m a tea person.  Earl Grey, every day 😊
