The NYSRS Scholarship Fund
The New York State Radiological Society, INC (NYSRS) is the New York State Chapter of the American College of Radiology (ACR). This statewide organization represents private and academic radiology practices and currently has over 1800 members. The goals of the Society mirror those of the ACR including:
- To advance the science of radiology and to improve radiologic services to the patient
- To encourage improved continuing education for radiologists and allied professional fields; and
- To study the socioeconomic aspects of the practice of radiology
- To establish and maintain high professional, medical and ethical standards in the practice of radiology and allied professional fields.
The NYSRS is a frequent winner of the ACR’s national chapter awards being recognized both for overall excellence and effective government relations. This success is in part due to the strong leadership of the Society. Many of our members have obtained national leadership positions including Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR who served as the first female president of the ACR’s Board of Chancellor and Jacqueline A. Bello, MD, FACR who is the current chair of ACR’s Board Of Chancellors.
The Society recognizes that its continuing achievements are dependent on its ability to identify and develop the future leaders in radiology. To this end, the Society has formed a tax-exempt charity. The purpose of the NYS Radiological Society Foundation is to fund participation by young radiologists in educational programs sponsored by the ACR and other organizations, including programs that foster leadership skills and an understanding of the clinical, policy, ethical and business issues radiologists confront today. The Society is looking for partners including individual members, radiology departments/practices, and corporations/ vendors to help endow the Foundation. Several opportunities for recognition are listed on the following page. The Society’s board thanks you for your consideration and generosity to help develop our future leaders.
